VAT slashed on green cars

Drivers of the lease polluting vehicles could find themselves in for HUGE tax breaks. The UK Government is looking at slashing VAT from 17.5% to only 5%. This could mean savings of almost £2000 when purchasing a Toyota Prius and over a £1000 for the Polo BlueMotion.

There is more good news for green drivers in the possible raising of the pence-per-mile rate to employees driving on business in their green cars. This is currently set at 40p but a successful campaign could lead to this going as high as 55 pence-per-mile.
