Telematics can save the planet and you money!

Buying a Telematics system for your fleet can save your business money and help to save the planet at the same time.
Trafficmaster is a giant when it comes to intelligent driving and has designed its Fleet Director system with this in mind. It allows operators and dispatchers to control mobile assets on the road, sending the nearest vehicle to a job, providing efficient routes and monitoring fleets for any exceptional usage (eg: out of working hours, idling or off-route mileage). According to research by Trafficmaster, Teletrac customers report an average saving of 13% on their annual fuel consumption. Because Teletrac is the second largest fleet management company in the USA, serving over 72,000 vehicles, these savings equal 28 million gallons, worth almost $100 million dollars and representing a cut of 280,000 tonnes CO2. Trafficmaster satellite navigation SmartNav can reduce an average distance driven by 16%, driving time by 18% and fuel consumption by 15%, by taking more direct routes and preventing drivers getting lost. Using live traffic information to avoid congestion saves a further 14% of driving time on congested roads. As a result, Trafficmaster claims it can save its UK customers 30,000 hours per month in driving time by avoiding congestion. So, with fleet management, navigation and traffic information working hand-in-hand, there is the potential to reduce overall fuel consumption by 28% and reduce driving time by 32%, which means you’ll be saving cash and the planet.
