SEAT Ibiza Ecomotive chosen to promote new DVLA campaign

SEAT Ibiza EcomotiveSEAT’s mega-economical Ibiza Ecomotive, new in showrooms and already causing a stir among green-minded buyers nationwide, has received important support with reports that the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) has chosen it to feature in its new online road tax renewal campaign.

The Ecomotive has been selected by bosses in Swansea as the star prize car in a competition connected to the new push by the Agency to persuade drivers to renew their road tax online or by telephon, an easy procedure which is said to take around four minutes from start to finish.

SEAT is supplying nine versions of the fuel-sipping supermini “capable of returning a remarkable 74.3 mpg on the combined cycle while generating just 99 g/km of CO2″ as prizes in monthly giveaways on the DVLA’s dedicated renewal site: www.direct.gov.uk/taxdisc

The SEAT Ibiza Ecomtoive very low emissions (CO2 emissions under 100 g/km) and hence fit into Band A, Ibiza Ecomotive owners won’t pay anything to the DVLA for their tax disc.

The ground-breaking association with the DVLA, which will also see the Ibiza Ecomotive pictured and mentioned in the millions of printed Road Tax renewal reminders sent out by the Agency each year, is another important step in establishing the 11,000 RRP car as a key player in the UK’s green motoring movement.

SEAT UK’s National Communications Manager, Rob Taylor, said of the deal: “The DVLA’s decision to select the Ibiza Ecomotive as the prize car in this huge prize draw, open to literally millions of motorists right across the UK, is great news. Within SEAT we obviously realise and appreciate the benefits of this remarkable car, and now the DVLA prize draw will give lucky drivers across the country the chance to do the same for free!

No disrespect to SEAT, but the DVLA’s envelope looks like a prize draw promotion and as such went straight in the bin in our house. Trouble was, with no reminder to pay, we ended up having our car impounded and lots of money to pay.
Also, take DVLA’s comment about 24/7 availability of on-line renewal with a pinch of salt. The reminder comes at the beginning of the month, but you can’t renew until the middle of the month. Looked at another way, that’s 50% availability, and you have to keep the bit of paper hanging around for a couple of weeks before you can action it. Probably sounds like efficiency at the DVLA!

(By the way, Robert Taylor is my real name and I am no relation to SEAT’s National Communications Manager!)

I think its a total outrage that this government department is promoting spanish cars when our own factories are on short time.
