You’ve heard of green cars, electric cars, fuel cell cars and even solar powered cars – but how about a vehicle that is robot assisted? Well that’s the latest concept featured on the futuristic Nissan Pivo 2.
The original Pivo is an electric vehicle producing zero emissions, but the Pivo 2 takes the concept to a whole new level. The robot assisted car lets you drive backwards and sideways and is set to be released in Portugal in 2011 after Portuguese Prime Minister Jose Socrates announced last week that the country will build a national network of electric car recharging centres with support from the Nissan-Renault alliance. The car will then be made available worldwide by 2012.
The cars will once again be equipped with zero emission engines. In fact, the Pivo 2 will feature four engines, pivoting wheels, and even a rotating cabin so you can face forwards no matter which direction you are heading in.
Sound futuristic? Perhaps, but it’s a very real concept that is only a few years away from release – and is set to make awkward parallel parking a thing of the past.
