Call it a sign of the times, but due to overwhelming demand, Press day at the British International Motor Show will play host to the first ever What Car? Green Awards.
According to a Press release, an increasing number of readers have been making enquiries about green cars. As a result of this demand, the organisation will host green awards to help steer consumers in the direction of vehicle choices that are both right for them and the environment.
In total, there will be 10 categories including a “Green Car of the Year” award. This award should not be confused with the Environmental Transport Association’s Green Car of the Year award which was handed to the Toyota Yaris just a few weeks ago.
Group editor Steve Fowler commented: “With increasing environmental concerns among car buyers, not to mention green taxes and spiralling fuel costs, the time is right for a recognised Green Awards. We’re delighted to be able to present them in the Greener Driving Pavilion at The British International Motor Show.
“The focus of these awards will obviously be on a car’s environmental credentials, but the winners will also be great cars to own and run, without any compromises.”
The event takes place at the London ExCeL on Tuesday July 22, at 5pm.
