4×4 attacks could affect sales.

Reports of campaigns against 4×4 vehicles in London, Edinburgh and Oxford are expected to further the push away from 4×4 vehicles.  The Witney Gazette reported last week that 4×4 vehicles in Marston in Oxford had been attacked by anti-car environmentalists. The attackers left notes explaining their motives when they let down tyres.

Attacks on 4×4 could well push up the price of running a 4×4 vehicles.  Already 4×4 sales are suffering as a result of higher road tax charges and high fuel costs. If the trend of attacks continues, it could affect insurance costs and the hassle and out of pocket expense could add to growing number of reasons not to buy a 4×4. Sales of 4×4 here and in the USA are expected to fall over the next six months. Already we have seen the rise in popularity of smaller and more environmentally friendly vehicles.

I hope the campaigners have the decency to make sure the owners aren’t: elderly, pregnant, farmers, etc. before they let down the tyres.
As people naturally move away from these vehicles I think these campaigners would be better serving the environment by other… more lawful means.
