The newly launched C5 won against competition from the Mazda 6 and the Ford Mondeo, with the 1.6HDi VTR+ model’s efficient and economical diesel unit, achieving low CO2 emissions of just 149g/km and combined fuel economy of 50mpg. The Grand C4 Picasso 1.6HDi SX won, in part, thanks to its Electronic Gearbox System that helps boost the fuel economy to 50mpg.
Editor of What Car? magazine, Steve Fowler commented, “Citroen’s Grand C4 Picasso and new C5 were fully deserving of these green awards. Citroen has a growing reputation for producing cars with solid environmental credentials, but that offer comfort, convenience and quality, too.”
