Aspid thrives on green credentials

August 8, 2008 Posted by: Paul Lucas

IFR Automotive is celebrating the success of its new sport car, the Aspid, after more than 100 potential customers signed up for an exclusive two days of test driving. However, the company is under no illusions about the reasons for its success - namely its green credentials.

The Aspid represents a new breed of supercar. The vehicle weighs in at less than 700kg and this low mass allows it to achieve comparatively low carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions and high fuel economy. Despite these green car hallmarks, there is no compromise on performance as the Aspid boasts luxury touches including climate control, touch screens and an enclosed cabin.

Company founder and automotive engineer Ignacio Fernandez, said: “The need to significantly reduce the weight of all vehicles is a highly topical subject and important to the entire industry in terms of delivering personal mobility that is environmentally friendly, socially acceptable and economically sustainable.”

Surprisingly, given the current economic climate, the majority of customers have expressed interest in the more expensive version - the £107,000 supercharged model as opposed to the £75,000 model.

The Aspid has already received praise from established motoring journalists - if you’d like more information about the vehicle check out aspidcars.com.
