Peugeot’s hybrid offering

September 16, 2008 Posted by: Faye Sunderland

Peugeot 308 SW PrologueNot many would argue that Peugeot have been a leading light in fuel economy in recent years and have proven how much can be done with ordinary and traditional petrol and diesel engines to lower emissions. Now Peugeot is preparing to enter the hybrid market, with the anticipated Prologue, which could offer an ideal solution for larger families who still want to do their bit for the environment and watch their fuel expenses too.

The traditional and familiar face of the 308 SW gets the hybrid treatment meaning truly impressive fuel economy without the compromise on space. Seating up to seven people and offering flexible use of space with swivelling seats which can be folded flat or removed completely.

The 308 SW Prologue concept car is powered by the 2.0 litre HDi DPFS 136 bhp engine equipped with an additive-enhanced diesel particulate filter system (DPFS). Its HDi DPFS technology, ensures it is environmentally-friendly, with reduced CO2 emissions and Peugeot promise the complete eradication of particulate emissions.

In fact, thanks to this technology, this 200 bhp car offers unexpected levels of performance combined with significantly reduced CO2 emissions: 109 g/km in the combined cycle, or zero in electric only mode! Peugeot are expected to release further details soon.
