Ashwoods, a leading player in the field of low emissions technology for commercial fleets, is celebrating after winning the Industry Innovation Award for its Hybrid-Drive system at this year’s Green Fleet Awards. The Ashwoods Hybrid-Drive is the first system developed in the UK to be backed by government approved emissions data, confirming significant reductions in CO2 emissions on both petrol and diesel vehicles.

“The Ashwoods Hybrid-Drive system is a deserved winner of the 2008 Innovation Award, both for the results it has achieved in CO2 emissions tests, and the ease with which it can be fitted to vehicles”, says Ben Lane, chief executive of Ecolane and member of the Green Fleet Awards judging panel. “I am particularly impressed by the fact that an installation is completed in less than three hours – without any modification to the vehicle required.”

“This is a fantastic achievement for the Ashwoods team. Everybody in this industry wants to be recognised by the Green Fleet Awards”, adds Mark Roberts, managing director of Ashwoods. “The Hybrid-Drive has been two years in development. During that time we have drawn on our experience in the LPG market and have taken time to analyse and find solutions for some of the pitfalls of retro-fits. We now believe we have developed something that is technically brilliant but is also easy to use and is built entirely with our clients needs in mind.”
