Is the Nuvu the car of the future?

Walking around the Paris Motor Show you’d be forgiven for thinking you had stepped on to the set of Tomorrow’s World. However, whereas we’re still waiting for many of the supposed concepts of the future, perhaps the wait is almost over for the green car of the future – the Nissan Nuvu.

The Nuvu is an electric car that is a mere three metres long and is designed for urban dwelling families.

To save space and reduce weight, the Nissan Nuvu features two regular seats and a third chair that can be folded down and used as and when required. The third seat is also made from hammock style netting allowing for cool or warm air to move around the body for additional comfort.

The Nuvu’s steering, brakes, transmission and throttle are all controlled by wire, while the steering uses an aircraft style steering yoke which you can turn from lock to lock for increased agility and manoeuvrability.

In addition, the Nuvu makes use of lithium-ion batteries and has a capacity of 140Wh/kg – the total capacity has not yet been released.
