The eyes of the motoring world may be on Paris, but don’t forget about another green car show – this one taking place in Australia.
The Green Motor Show is part of Greenfest, an event that exhibits environmental solutions for all facets of life. It has been organised by Colman Ridge, a proud Toyota Prius driver, who has poured $250,000 of his own “green stuff” into the festival.
According to Mr Ridge, the Green Motor Show aims to demonstrate that emissions can be reduced by as much as 50 per cent without causing any discomfort to drivers. All a driver needs to do is move to a more fuel efficient car and consider other methods for shorter trips, such as walking and cycling.
The festival is a non-profit venture with all proceeds going towards habitat protection schemes and green education projects. It is expected that around 150 exhibitors will take part and an electric moped will be given away in a draw.
The event takes place at South Bank today from noon-10pm, tomorrow from 10am-10pm and on Sunday from 10am-5pm.
