Skoda to launch green cars

How do you double the price of a Skoda? Fill up the tank! Have you got a wing mirror for a Skoda? OK, seems like a fair swap…
Remember the days when Skoda was the laughing stock of the motoring world? Well for more than a decade, Skoda has been reinventing its image and has firmly established itself as one of the most reliable and consistent car manufacturers - and now it is ready to take its vehicles into the green era.
Skoda is releasing the new Superb Greenline on Monday - a flexible and spacious car with a 1.9 TDI PD engine with diesel particulate filter, that returns 105bhp and has a five-speed manual gearbox.
The car emits a meagre 136g/km of carbon dioxide and has remarkable fuel consumption at 55.4mpg - something that producing marketing manager Chris Horrell believes will hold great appeal to customers.
“The latest addition to our GreenLine range will be well received by customers seeking a more environmentally conscious vehicle in the upper medium sector,” he said.
“With growing interest in greener cars we expect the Superb Greenline to attract retail and business customers seeking a vehicle which represents great value for money but does not compromise on quality.”
The vehicle, which has had its weight reduced and features longer gearing and a remapped engine for greater efficiency will cost £16,170.
