Dubai welcomes electric cars

 The city of has long been seen as one of the most innovative and forward-thinking in the world, and now it has expressed its commitment for sustainable transport by becoming the first city in the Gulf to license electric cars.

Electric vehicles have been licensed to Dubai-based business conglomerate SS Lootah Group as the latest addition to the company fleet. It is part of its ‘Green Car Program’ which was established three years ago and aims to address the needs of the company while causing minimal environmental impact.

The Green Car Program has thus far seen the conversion of part of the group’s fleet to compressed natural gas, followed by the introduction of first hybrid and now electric cars. Currently the vehicles are being tested to suit the Gulf conditions with positive reports.

There was also praise for His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai. His vision is said to have inspired the efforts to make Dubai sustainable in every respect.

how will a electric car work her in the UAE which requires to meet traffic congestions and air conditioning, specially 24 hours for taxis in summer, it meens they have to recharge every one mile.or what will be their batteries charging rate . and how long will it last,with effective air conditioning.other wise they can be only succesfull with out A/C IN WINTER.
