Get your alternative fuel here

November 10, 2008 Posted by: Paul Lucas

One of the main hindrances to the growth of green cars worldwide has been the lack of refuelling infrastructure. Now however, readers in the USA can find out exactly how viable an alternative-fuel car is after the Department of Energy introduced a new website.

The website allows users to quickly search for refuelling stations of just about any kind except regular petrol or diesel. The website includes refuelling stations for:

  • Biodiesel (B20 and above)
  • Compressed Natural Gas
  • Electric
  • Ethanol (E85)
  • Hydrogen
  • Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG)
  • Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Propane)

A quick glance at the map highlights that California is clearly leading the way, however E85 is proving a huge hit in the Midwest and biodiesel is also well-established in both Georgia and the Carolinas.

So now if you’re one of our many US readers, you can check out how close you are to a refuelling station and then determine how viable going green is for you.
