French President Nicolad Sarkozy has announced 220 million euros are earmarked to encourage drivers to buy new, green cars. The aid is part of 26 billion euros worth measures meant to boost the French economy as it faces recession.
According to Bloomberg.com, until the end of next year, drivers in France will get a 1,000-euro rebate if they scrap a vehicle older than 10 years and purchase a light truck or new car emitting less than 160 grams of carbon dioxide per kilometres.
