To our regular readers I must state this news post is not a repeat. However, you’d be forgiven for thinking so such has been the seemingly endless activity of Better Place in recent weeks.
Hot on the heels from its breakthrough in Hawaii and just two days on from our news that the company had launched its first plug-in parking lot in Israel, now Better Place is joining forces with Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd, maker of Subaru automobiles, in the first Ministry of Environment sponsored electric vehicle project in Japan.
The government project is to support the move towards sustainable transportation and includes the introduction of a variety of electric car models and infrastructure in multiple cities to test feasibility. The project will begin in January and last three-six months across municipalities in Osaka, Aichi, Kanagawa and Hyogo.
In Yokohama there will be a demonstration of the ability to exchange a depleted electric vehicle battery with a fully charged one to extend its range. This has been based on the Better Place model.
