It’s one of the most eagerly anticipated motor shows of the year – the Detroit Auto Show, now known as the North American International Auto Show, is the largest of its kind in America and has been showcasing vehicles since 1907.
However, this year may be a little different with some vehicles locked firmly in the spotlight and others notable by their absence.
Neither Nissan nor Infiniti will be present at this year’s show. The company announced back in November that it would not be showcasing any new vehicles and so local dealers had decided to use the floor-space for themselves. However, now Nissan has asked them not to. From a green car perspective this means that visitors will miss out on the Nissan Altima Hybrid and the new Nissan Cube.
In fact, around nine major manufacturers have pulled out of this year’s event including Ferrari and Porsche. Mitsubishi was also omitted from the Press release which means green car fans will miss out on the much-loved iMiev.
So which major manufacturers will be there? Well, green car enthusiasts can look forward to an early glance at the Ford Fusion Hybrid, the Honda Insight and the Toyota Prius. Chevrolet is expected to bring its latest version of the Volt for display and Chrysler is also tipped to bring several electric cars to the show.
The North American International Auto Show kicks off to the Press tomorrow – January 11. We’ll bring you all the news from the show, right here at thegreencarwebsite.co.uk.
