Aussies to have their say on green plans

Do you have an opinion on your government’s green initiatives and the incentives given for the use of green cars? Well if you live in Australia your voice could be heard as industry minister Kim Carr invites the public to attend consultation sessions on the proposed $1.3billion Green Car Innovation Fund.

The Fund is scheduled to begin in July and will provide assistance to encourage the design and development of green cars and their components in Australia.

Now the government is holding sessions based on the Green Car Innovation Fund Framework Paper originally released by Senator Carr in December. The paper outlines how the fund will be implemented and operated and now the public is invited to provide their views on the subject.

The Rudd Government has put together a $6.2billion new car plan for a greener future designed to help the automotive industry be both economically and environmentally stable by 2020. It relies on partnerships with the industry to provide highly skilled and highly paid jobs.

The consultations will be held in venues in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney from February 2-10, 2009.
