There is a new and improved Audi A4 on its way and it will have a distinctly greener feel.
The car manufacturer will be introducing a choice of two diesel and one petrol engines, all of which will be turbocharged and direct-injected. Let’s breakdown the line-up:
- - A 2.0 TDI diesel engine – will use a common-rail system with an injection pressure of 1,800 bar. It will deliver between 1,750 and 2,500rpm and can reach 62.14mph in 8.9 seconds. It has a top speed of 132.5mph with fuel consumption at 36.75mpg.
- - A 3.0 litre V6 TDI diesel engine – capable of developing 500Nm at 1,500-3,000rpm. Combined with S tronic, the Audi A4 3.0 TDI can reach 62.14mph in 6.4 seconds and has a top speed of 146.6mph. On average the 3.0 litre engine has fuel consumption of 33.13mpg.
- - A 2.0 litre TFSI uses three high end technologies – the FSI direct gasoline injection; the Audi valvelift system; and the turbocharger. Between 1,500 and 4,500rpm it delivers 350Nm of torque. It can reach a top speed of 142.92mph and is capable of accelerating to 62.14mph in 6.9 seconds. It achieves fuel consumption of 29.04mpg.
All three engines will be Euro 5 compliant with the A4 all-road Quattro featuring the energy recuperation system. This means that during deceleration the vehicle operates with increased secondary voltage and can convert kinetic energy into electrical energy. So when the car accelerates again, the battery feeds the energy back in, reducing the load on the alternator.
