The Geneva Motor Show is once again welcoming an exciting new concept through its doors as Infiniti Europe takes the lid off its Infiniti Essence vehicle.
The car will use Infiniti’s familiar 3.7 litre V6 petroleum engine, with twin turbochargers boosting power to 434bhp, as well as Infiniti’s debuting petrol-electric hybrid powertrain. The engine also includes a new direct-injection fuel system with the hybrid system using a version of Nissan’s 3D Motor that offers twice the torque.

Infiniti Essence is a front-engined, rear-wheel drive, two-seat vehicle with performance maximised by the layout of the electromagnetic coil and permanent magnet in the 3D Motor. The motor is positioned between the transmission and the engine, and provides 158bhp of torque with power drawn from the lithium-ion battery pack.
The power is fed to the rear wheels with separate clutches switching in the engine and/or the motor when required. The vehicle is capable of operating in all-engine, blended power-assist and even all-electric modes. Estimated fuel consumption is 29.4mpg with emissions at 190g/km.
