Heuliez to launch Friendly car

At last year’s Paris Motor Show, auto parts supplier and part-time vehicle assembler Heuliez was among the manufacturers to unveil a new green car concept – an electric car called the Friendly.

Now, the three-seat electric vehicles have been made available for pre-order on the internet.

The Friendly is available with three different electric motors to choose from and three different vehicle lengths. Each one will sport a nickel metal hydride battery pack that can offer a range of between 60 and 155 miles. According to reports, the French manufacturer also expects the Friendly to reach around 70mph.

The electric cars will be the first to wear the Heuliez badge because the company has only previously made modules such as convertible tops for other automakers. The starting price is €12,000 ($15,500 in the US). A deposit of €10 is needed to place the buyer on to a priority ordering list. Deliveries are expected to begin in February, 2010.
