If doing your bit for the environment isn’t motivation enough (and apparently for most of us it isn’t), then it’s still worth considering going green just to save some cash.
That is the verdict of a new What Car? survey which showed that British customers are putting environmental credentials at the bottom of their list of priorities when shopping for a new car. Value for money and running costs came at the top of the table with 56 per cent, while the car’s impact on the environment was only the top pick for two per cent of the 1,000 motorists surveyed.
However, according to Steve Fowler, the group’s editor, going green and saving cash actually go hand in hand.
“Cash is king right now,” he said. “Value for money, running costs and reliability are what car buyers want most through this difficult economic climate. The good news is that the most fuel-efficient cars also tend to be the greenest cars!”
