Fisker makes dealership breakthrough

Fisker Automotive, the manufacturer of luxury plug-in hybrid vehicles, has announced that it has appointed its first group of North American retailers to market and service its vehicles beginning with the Karma later this year.

According to its Press release, 32 award winning retailers have confirmed their intent to carry the Fisker model placing the company close to its goal of 40 locations across the US by the end of June 2009.

Fisker board member Vic Doolan, who previously led BMW NA and Volvo Cars NA to record sales, described the retail partners as the firm’s most important assets. He said that they are the face of the company to customers and that the retailers chosen will give Fisker customers comfort and confidence.

The manufacturer has been able to attract new franchises even during tough economic times due to keeping start-up costs low. It is also using the Obama pledge of $2.4billion to support the development of plug-in hybrid vehicles and battery technology as added incentive.

The dealerships will continue the company’s environmental theme by becoming eco-facilities with natural and sustainable materials used as well as a solar-powered car port that can keep demonstrator vehicles clean, fully charged and ready to be driven.
