Having already established an electric vehicle testing programme in Austria, Think will continue its European expansion in Spain where it will deliver 550 City electric vehicles.
A pre programme demonstration project that begins with five Think City vehicles will start in the early summer with the intention of gaining real time experience of running and operating electric cars in Spain.
There is widespread support from Spain’s Industry Ministry as it aims to install electric car infrastructure in several cities as well as subsidising the government, municipal and private purchase of smaller electric vehicle fleets.
According to Richard Canny, CEO of Think, Spain is an important market. The combination of government-led demonstration programmes with incentives for consumers to buy electric vehicles is a pattern being followed around the world and it helps bring electric vehicles to market.
The memorandum of understanding has been signed with Going Green, Think’s Spanish partner. Gonzalo Alonso, the managing director of Going Green, outlined that the goal is to distribute the Think City to retail customers and corporate clients, as well as government and municipal customers throughout Spain.
