The Peugeot 407 is constantly evolving and now it has added a host of new features designed to boost the overall driving enjoyment and slash carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.
Last July a series of enhancements were made including front parking assistance and WIP navigation, as well as the latest 2.0litre HDi FAP Euro 5 specification engine that was capable of 50.4mpg while emitting just 150g/km of CO2 despite increasing its power to 140bhp.
However, the latest versions of the 407 are enhanced further including a revised 1.6litre HDi 110bhp engine that has combined fuel economy figures of 57.6mpg and CO2 emissions of just 129g/km.
The engine has been optimised thanks to recalibration which obtains a significant emissions reduction. The 129g/km figure has been achieved without changing gear rations so performance levels and acceleration remain unaffected.
One of the reasons for the emissions reduction is the introduction of electro-hydraulic power steering which is controlled by a hydraulic electro-pump unit which optimises fuel consumption. The latest 407 is also equipped with Michelin Energy Saver 205/60 R16 H tyres which reduce rolling friction.
Prices for the 407 Saloon start with the S trim 2.0litre Bioflex petrol at £17,745. The 1.6litre HDi 110, which achieves 129g/km, costs just an additional £1,000 at £18,745.
