Last week we told you how Think had expanded to Spain and now the Norwegian company has made several additional announcements at the Electric Vehicle Symposium in Norway.
It confirmed that the Think City has been granted the first ever pan-European homologation certificate for an electric vehicle. The certificate, which only became available on May 1, is meant to accelerate the introduction of roadworthy electric vehicles.
It means that the car can now be registered in each European member state without the need for additional tests or approval. This means reduced costs and lead times for the manufacturer, as well as for consumers.
The company also offered more details about its introduction of electric vehicles in Spain and is said to be aiming to install electric car infrastructure in several cities as well as subsidising the government, municipal and private purchase of smaller electric vehicle fleets.
Think’s CEO Richard Canny, said: “The combination of government-led demonstration programs followed by incentives for consumer to purchase EVs is a pattern that leading governments around the world are following. It helps get EVs on the market, increases the scale for lithium-ion battery producers and drives the cost of these batteries down.”
Prior to the event in Norway, Think took part in the Viking Rally, a race dedicated to green cars such as hybrids and electrics.
The Think City completed the course in style and is offering test drives at the Symposium which closes its doors tomorrow – Saturday May, 16.
