Remember when Skoda was the punch line to just about every automotive joke? Times have definitely changed for the Czech manufacturer as the success of the Octavia have proven and now the vehicle is set for a new, greener spin.
Skoda has announced the launch of a new Octavia GreenLine, expanding its environmentally friendly range. The GreenLine uses a new manual 1.6 TDI CR engine and is sure to be a hit with fleet operators looking to reduce their costs thanks to its impressive fuel efficiency and emission statistics – it emits just 114g/km of carbon dioxide (CO2). This means that monthly company car tax for 40 per cent band taxpayers is a mere £69.62 with a low fuel benefit charge of just £73.23.
The company is keen to sell the environmental credentials of the vehicle to fleet operators, as Christopher Horrell, the company’s product marketing manager, stresses its impact on fleet finances.
“It is in the interest of every fleet operator to consider both Skoda’s GreenLine range and new diesel engines as they are designed purely and simply to reduce impact on the environment which, in turn will lower fleet running costs,” he said.
Its common rail has many advantages including fewer moving parts, improved performance and quieter running.
The company has also launched the new Octavia diesel 1.6 TDI with improved CO2 emissions below 120g/km.
