BMW X1 headed to North America

It is already scheduled to debut in Europe this autumn, and now has confirmed that it’s eagerly anticipated X1 vehicle will arrive in the United States by calendar year 2011.

The X1 offers the flexibility of a traditional rear-wheel drive vehicle and an xDrive all-wheel drive configuration. It also has a wide variety of petrol and diesel powertrain choices. When it debuts in Europe, it is to be available with a choice of four engines – one petrol engine and three diesels.

The vehicle can achieve around 45.2mpg on the European test cycle, providing good fuel efficiency while still achieving top speeds up to 124mph. Each drivetrain choice will showcase the BMW EfficientDynamics strategy which focuses on reducing emissions and consumption while enhancing performance.

Plans for the X1′s US launch will be made available as the date draws closer and are dependent on the constantly evolving market demands, fuel prices and regulatory standards.
