Suzuki cuts emissions of Grand Vitara

After enjoying a successful launch of the revised Grand Vitara SZ model range in October 2008, has announced the addition of both a 1.6litre petrol engine and a 1.9 DDiS to the three-door model range, with emissions slashed.

Emissions have been cut on the latest models with the 1.6litre now at 195g/km compared to 199g/km previously and the 1.9litre DDiS at 183g/km compared to 189g/km prior to the change.

Suzuki claims it has a unique offering in the SUV market in that no other manufacturer currently offers this choice of engines in a compact SUV style. The three-door is seen as an important model in the Suzuki range as it represents around 50 per cent of all Grand Vitara sales in the UK.

The company has consolidated the design and engineering qualities that have helped the model to success so far, while introducing an all-round upgrade in terms of its specifications, safety and styling.

It is described as a full blooded 4×4 with a built-in ladder frame and additional strengthening elements that provide the rigidity needed for serious off-road driving. Its independent suspension meanwhile, ensures stability and comfort on tarmac.

The vehicle is on sale now and priced from £13,600 for 1.6-litre SZ3 three-door manual and £16,200 for SZ4 1.9 DDiS.
