Is the Quicc Diva the car of the future?

Which car do you think could be best described as the car of the future?

Perhaps your vote would go to the green car leader of the present day, the Toyota Prius; perhaps you think a sporty model like the Tesla Roadster or Fisker Karma has more long term potential; or maybe you’d tip your hat towards a more conventional ride such as the Renault ZE?

Well, according to Dutch website ZERAuto, the vehicle that truly deserves the “car of the future” moniker is the Quicc Diva.

It’s a vehicle we’ve mentioned on a handful of occasions here at TheGreenCarWebsite.co.uk but perhaps it shouldn’t surprise anyone uninitiated with the car that it is produced in the .

Nationalistic bias aside however, the Quicc Diva is undoubtedly a pragmatic yet stylish vehicle that offers an innovative solution to get drivers around the narrow streets of city centres.

The award caught the attention of the country’s Minister of Economic Affairs Maria van der Hoeven, who presented DuraCar CEO Steen Wim Bakker with a certificate to denote the accolade. This is despite the fact that the company recently declared bankruptcy as did its intended builder Karmann. Now however, it plans on making a comeback and hopes to make around 25 cars a day in the third quarter of 2010.

Reports suggests the manufacturer has landed a £10million model development contract with Volkswagen to help it restructure and focus on electric cars, however, this has yet to be confirmed.
