News in brief: Volvo forced to recall green cars

Unfortunate news for Ford-owned Volvo cars late last week as it was forced to recall around 8,500 green cars predominantly from Sweden.

The problem came due to issues with the fuel pump of the Volvo V70 and Volvo S80 2008 and 2009 models. According to company spokesman Stefan Elstrom, the fuel pump has a robustness issue which means that under high temperatures it may cause the vehicle to stall.

Around 95 per cent of the models that have been sold so far have gone to customers in Volvo’s native Sweden. The remainder have been sold across 15 other European countries including Ireland, the Netherlands, Germany, Norway and Switzerland.
