I ve been following the Fuel Cell never happened revolution for a while. Fuel Cell has lost the hype and so the funding. Be assured that until the entire world is not desperate for other energy sources not real shift will ever happen.
Electric cars are much more easy to commercialize ( they do not need a brand new fuel-production and refuelling infrastructure ).
The Berlin example it is something that could have been done easily 10 years ago. And indeed future plans should follow such example.
Governments all over the world are responsible for this missed opportunity. However I must say that in this terrible economic downturn it would be foolish of them to invest such money.

In Current system, Vehicles are building based on Fuel (Ex: Diesel cars,Gasoline cars and electric cars...). Once buy one kind of fuel car we have to stick with that fuel. But Hydrogen cars can use any of these fuels are primary fuel energy and no need to depend on particular fuel. Even we can get Hydrogen from Renewable energy. If technology become more strong on renewable energy, Generate hydrogen more from renewable energy. Once Hydrogen is taken place, Hydrogen fuel price is depending on local available primary energy soruces and less impact on International issues as not like now.

I think that we should use fuel cell cars for taxi applications or fleet use. Because hydrogen electric cars, lack the sound of a v6 or a v8, and the cars are just not designed for performance so don't think that they will replace all cars, we would'nt want to see a Corvette driving down and sounding as quiet as your laptop! Well hopefully these people will make bio fuels like ethanol etc etc more viable so we can have a wide range of choice for cars we all love to drive!
