Global Green Cars expands electric vehicle line-up

Global Green Cars, along with its strategic partner Green Star Products, has its sights set on mass producing high performance electric cars in the United States – and now it has added an additional two models for its electric vehicle market.

Over the last six weeks, an entourage from Global Green Cars has been touring car manufacturers in Asia for additional suitable electric vehicle platforms that can be manufactured in the USA. According to a Press release, it found that the Asian manufacturers were accommodating and all negotiations took place at the highest levels. As a result, Global Green Cars will now add a commuter vehicle and an SUV to its product line.

Brooks Agnew, the president of Global Green Cars, believes there are very few vehicles available in the world that provide suitable platforms for electric vehicles – suitability can be assessed on a number of factors including curb weight, aerodynamics, structural layout and more. With customer acceptance of a newly designed vehicle seen as vital, Agnew believes that all of the vehicles in the Global Green Cars fleet are exceptionally qualified.

This enthusiasm was reiterated by president of Green Star Products Joseph LaStella, who stated that the scheduling for crash testing will start in October 2009 and the vehicles will initially be sold as neighbourhood electric vehicles. However, on the completion of crash testing and approval by the Department of Transportation, they will be approved for highway use.

The vehicles are expected to be put through their paces at selected test track facilities across the USA later this summer.

Asahi Shimbun just reported that Nissan will sell highway-capable electric vehicles (EVs) in the US beginning as early as this year. I hope that Global Green Cars can get such EVs onto the American market quickly; there is so much pent-up demand.
