Two more BlueEFFICIENCY models on their way

With car buyers continuing to demand vehicles with better fuel consumption and lower emissions, Benz is adding two new BlueEFFICIENCY four-cylinder models to its engine line-up for the new E-Class.

The diesel powerplant in the new E200 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY will have a displacement of 2143cc, and achieve around 42.8mpg with carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions ranging from 137-145g/km. The saloon car will accelerate from 0-100km/h in 10.2 seconds and reach a top speed of 130mph.

In addition, the diesel engine is boosted by the latest generation common-rail direct injection. The likewise new four-cylinder petrol engine with direct injection is also boosted by a turbocharger as well as adjustable intake and exhaust camshafts.

The petrol engine in the new E200 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY has a displacement of 1.8litres and an output of 184hp. It takes around 8.5seconds to accelerate from 0-100km/h and has a top speed of 144mph. It achieves around 32.7mpg and has CO2 emissions at 169g/km thanks in part to the start/stop function, which is fitted as standard.

The engines are Euro 5 compliant and are expected to reach the market in September.
