Funding boost for European Green Cars Initiative

Projects for the European Green Car Initiative received a boost of €63million after the published 53 calls for proposals in various thematic areas of the Seventh Research Framework Programme.

Calls were given for proposals in health; food, agriculture and fisheries as well as biotechnology; information and communication technologies; nanosciences, nanotechnologies, materials and new production technologies; socio-economic sciences and humanities; space; security; energy; and the environment.

The transport theme encompasses both air and surface transport aimed at benefiting citizens, respecting the environment, and increasing the competitiveness of European industries in the global market.

As part of the call, the sole topic addressed within the Green Cars Initiative is an integrated EU demonstration project on electromobility.

This Green Car Initiative is just the start of a greener generation. I have been trying to stay up-to-date with the new environmentally conscience vehicles and came across Mercedes new project they are working on. Take a glance at http://bit.ly/9hOwns Who do you think has the competitive advantage in this industry thus far?
