BMW to launch Megacity as sub-brand

Yesterday we told you how BMW had chosen its lithium-ion battery supplier for the upcoming Megacity series of vehicles (see article) and now, the group has announced it will launch the Megacity Vehicle as a sub-brand of the company.

According to Dr Norbert Reithofer, the chairman of the board of management of BMW AG, the BMW Group has moved early to invest in the development of new technologies. Now it is determined to establish suitable regulations on an international level that will help a new type of mobility to grow. This includes a reliable framework that will allow every car manufacturer to invest efficiently.

The Megacity vehicle is an outcome of project I, which has also focused on new mobility concepts. The family of cars is expected to be introduced in the first half of the next decade.
