After establishing partnerships with nearly 30 governments, cities and other organisations around the world, the Renault-Nissan Alliance is now looking to make a breakthrough in Australia.
The alliance has formed a partnership with the State Government of Victoria to explore the development of a zero emission vehicles programme.
It is understood that the two organisations have signed a Memorandum of Understanding which will allow a working team of representatives from the Victoria Government and Nissan to identify areas of co-operation that will help to promote the use of zero emission vehicles across the state.
The news follows hot on the heels of Nissan announcing its new LEAF electric vehicle, which is scheduled to reach Australia by 2012.
The company has already formed partnerships in countries including Japan and the USA, as well as several countries in Europe and Asia.
