BMW to launch EfficientDynamics model

Roll on the Frankfurt Motor Show, where yet another vehicle with a distinctly green spin will make its debut.

This time it is the turn of BMW to announce the introduction of the new 320d EfficientDynamics Edition at the event – a saloon car that develops 163hp between 3,500rpm and 4,200rpm as well as 360Nm of torque.

The power of the vehicle is unavoidable with a 0-62mph performance in 8.2 seconds and acceleration in fifth gear from 50mph to 75mph taking just 9.6 seconds. The car also has a top speed of 137mph.

However, it is the environmental credentials of the BMW 320d EfficientDynamics that are particularly noteworthy. The car has a 2.0litre four-cylinder diesel engine with an all-aluminium crankcase, and a host of EfficientDynamics features such as auto start stop, brake energy regeneration and electric power steering. It has a carbon dioxide (CO2) rating of just 109g/km and has fuel consumption of 57.4mpg.

The car will be strongly aimed at the German, Italian, French and Spanish markets and is the most fuel efficient and lowest emission car in BMW’s current model range. What’s more is that the price is no different for the EfficientDynamics Edition as the regular 320d.
