The dominance of Toyota in the automotive sector shows no signs of slowing down, as the company moves into South Korea.
Toyota Motor has begun sales of its vehicles at five dealerships in the country, including three in Seoul, established by its local distributor Toyota Motor Korea Company Ltd.
Among the vehicles available will be a third-generation Prius hybrid midsize car, the Camry and the Camry Hybrid midsize saloon cars, as well as the RAV4 crossover SUV.
The company has high hopes for success in the region with executive vice president Yukitoshi Funo stating that its introduction is aimed at meeting the diversifying needs of consumers in what is a growing market. He stated that Toyota hopes to contribute to South Korean society and earn a loyal following.
Initially, Toyota hopes for combined monthly sales of 500 vehicles, which it will aim to increase to 700 vehicles in 2010.
