Australia gets charged up by Coulomb

With the first mass produced electric vehicles scheduled to arrive in Australia in 2010; and most manufacturers expecting to release models in 2012; the country is having to act fast to establish the necessary infrastructure to make its green car ambitions a reality.

So it came as no surprise when the announcement was made, that Coulomb Technologies has signed ChargePoint Pty Ltd to an exclusive distribution agreement for its charging stations down under.

The company will now offer Coulomb’s ChargePoint Networked Charging Stations throughout Australia and is also involved in ‘advanced discussions’ with several private sector and government partners for pilot projects across major Australian cities including Sydney, Perth and Melbourne, which are due to commence by the first half of 2010.

The pilot projects themselves are expected to be used to evaluate charging behaviour, as well as environmental and societal impacts and energy grid load analysis.
