BMW announces release date of new hybrid vehicle

Hot on the heels of making its North American debut at the Los Angeles Motor Show, the ActiveHybrid X6 will arrive in US showrooms in early December.

The Sports Active Coupe, which includes two-mode hybrid technology, will go on sale from December 5, 2009, and will have a base price of $89,725 including destination and handling.

The vehicle boasts BMW’s interpretation of two-mode hybrid technology mated to a 4.4litre twin-turbo V8. Its on-sale price will include a number of standard features that were available as options on the X6 xDrive50i such as a unique seven-speed automatic transmission, 20” alloy wheels, extended nappa leather, and a rear-view camera.

The BMW ActiveHybrid X6 has a fuel economy rating of 17mpg in the city and 19mpg on the highway – 18mpg combined.
