Green Car Award 2009

Volvo was recently handed TheGreenCarWebsite.co.uk’s ‘Green Car of the Year’ award for its C30 DRIVe model with stop/start tehnology. In addition, the website polled visitors to ask them to select their ‘Green Car Manufacturer of the Year’ 2009, and Volvo lead by a strong margin, followed by Toyota in second place and BMW in third.

The DRIVe with stop/start was selected as an excellent addition to the ‘green scene’ this year, offering amazing fuel efficiency at 74.3 mpg combined and class-leading emissions of 99g/km of CO2, meaning that the C30 will give you around 857 miles to a tank.

On receiving the award, Peter Rask, managing director for Volvo Car UK commented: “Volvo Cars’ vision is to develop cars that are entirely free from harmful exhaust emissions and environment-impacting carbon dioxide. Emitting only 99g/km of CO2 the Volvo C30 1.6D DRIVe with Start/Stop shows how Volvo are well on their way to achieving this vision.”
