With Sweden already established as one of the most environmentally conscious countries in the world it seems only natural that it should turn its attentions to zero emission vehicles.
Now, a Swedish industry-first electric automobile coalition has been established with the intention of advancing zero-emission, high performance vehicles.
The coalition is funded by SEK86million from a Swedish Energy Agency grant and features Saab Automobile AB (for automotive engineering and manufacturing); Boston Power Inc (for lithium-ion batteries); Electroengine in Sweden AB (for electric power trains); Innovatum (for project management); and Power Circle (Sweden’s electric power industry trade organisation).
Saab and Electroengine have already built demonstration models of a vehicle named the ZE Saab 9-3. The coalition now plans to build 100 more cars in 2010.
