Tata Nano Electric on display in Geneva

The Nano was certainly a headline-grabber when it was introduced to the world just a couple of years ago – and now an electric version of the vehicle has been unveiled.

Tata Motors presented the Tata Nano Electric Vehicle at the 2010 in anticipation of joining the company’s expanding electric portfolio – Tata already plans to introduce the Indica Vista Electric Vehicle in select European countries beginning this year. The Tata Indica Vista uses lithium-ion super polymer batteries and has a predicted range of 124miles as well as the ability to accelerate from 0-37mph in less than 10 seconds.

So what does the Tata Nano EV have to offer?

The compact vehicle will seat four and have a range up to 99miles. It can accelerate from 0-37mph in less than 10 seconds and will make use of the lithium-polymer batteries which are also a hallmark of the Tata Indico Vista EV.

According to Ravi Kant, vice chairman of Tata Motors, the company will progressively introduce electric vehicles into select markets.
