Just a week ago we told you that the Renault-Nissan Alliance was in negotiations to form a partnership with Daimler (see article) and now we have reports that the deal is basically agreed.
According to Kyodo News, the two parties have settled on a capital and business tie-up deal and will confirm the agreement on Wednesday at a Press conference in Brussels held by Nissan president Carlos Ghosn, who is also the president and chief executive officer of Renault. Several top Daimler executives are also expected to be present.
Reports suggest that the deal will revolve around developing electric vehicles and compact cars that will be marketed both in emerging and developing countries. According to the reports, Daimler is also considering supplying large displacement petrol and diesel engines to Nissan, which is 44.3 per cent owned by Renault.
