Small vehicle specialist Suzuki will soon increase its engine output capacity in India, according to a report in the Nikkei.
The company will put out more than 1.25million units a year – an increase of around 30 per cent – after investing around 10billion yen to install a production line capable of churning out 300,000 units at a base near New Delhi. Production capacity will increase by 60 per cent to 800,000 a year and is seen as a direct response to stricter emission regulations that have brought India’s emission standards on a par with those in Europe.
According to the report, the purpose of the line will be to produce K-series low-emission models with one-1.2litre engines.
