Chalk up another name on the list of electric vehicle partners for the Renault-Nissan Alliance.
The company will participate in the Hakone EV Town Project with Hakone Town and Kanagawa Prefecture in Japan. The project focuses on the widespread adoption of electric vehicles in an effort to realise “Environmentally-advanced Tourist Site: Hakone” which aims to protect the natural environment of the Hakone area while also promoting tourism.
In addition, Nissan will work with travel agencies to encourage those who use private cars or public transport to consider renting electric vehicles in the area instead.
It is just the latest in a long list of partnerships for the Renault-Nissan Alliance in Japan – back in February it signed a partnership with All Japan Ryokan to promote electric vehicle charging infrastructure. It also formed a partnership with Kanagawa Prefecture for various electric vehicle projects back in May, 2008 with the two said to be considering an electric vehicle taxi project.
