Final design of New Bus for London revealed

Using the greenest hybrid technology available, the New Bus for , which will based on the iconic double-decker Routemaster, promises to be a hit not only with passengers but also with the environment.

The , Boris Johnson, and London’s Transport Commissioner, Peter Hendy, revealed the final design of the new buses that will be hybrids and will be 15 per cent more fuel efficient than existing hybrid buses.

The vehicles promise to be quieter on the streets and to greatly improve air quality with 40 per cent less nitrogen oxide emissions and 33 per cent less PM emissions. The vehicles will also be 40 per cent more efficient than the vehicles they replace. 

Engineers at are now working on a static mock up of the bus which they hope will be completed later this year with the plan to put the buses into service beginning in early 2012.
