The UK winner of the Vauxhall ecoFlex competition will soon head to Malmo to compete for the chance to win one of the first Ampera extended range electric vehicles.
Helen White was chosen as the UK finalist and will travel to Sweden where she will take on the winners from 19 other countries in the final of the pan-European fuel saving competition.
The UK’s eco champion beat 6,000 participants with her skills and expert knowledge of eco-driving. Now, in this last stage, she will meet with the other finalists at the Sturup Raceway near Malmo, Sweden, to demonstrate her fuel saving skills.
As part of the process she must master four disciplines – a typical city tour in the Corsa with starts, stops and speed limits; and then a smooth, easy cruising trip in the Insignia; before the question ‘how far can you go on just one litre of fuel?’ must be answered in the Meriva; and a special stretch will be tackled in the Astra to see who can complete 30 laps fastest with a limited amount of fuel.
The event takes place from July 22-24. We’ll let you know how Helen gets on.
